A significant Salmonella outbreak linked to backyard poultry flocks has resulted in another fatality. According to Food Safety News, this represents the largest outbreak of the bacteria recorded so far this year.
Health officials have noted that no recalls will be issued for the live animals involved. This is because neither the USDA nor the FDA currently have regulations governing backyard flocks.
