Potato prices in Kenya have seen a sharp increase of 80 per cent. According to Food Business Africa, this spike is driven by a combination of reduced supplies and rising transport costs.
The National Potato Council of Kenya has highlighted several factors limiting yields. These include a lack of access to certified clean seeds, the impact of pests, and the prevalence of soil-borne diseases. Declining soil fertility has also contributed to the lower output.
