Annual food inflation has reached its lowest point in a year. According to data reported by The Grocer, the rate fell to 2.7 per cent during the first week of May, down from the 3.1 per cent recorded in April.
Despite the welcome dip in prices, the British Retail Consortium has issued a warning that this downward trajectory may not be sustainable in the long term.
