Authorities in Japan have officially relaxed food labelling requirements for products originating from areas hit by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake. The move is intended to help the food supply chain recover in the wake of the disaster.
Despite the flexibility regarding labels, officials have emphasised that food safety remains the top priority. According to FoodNavigator Europe, the government is ensuring that safety standards are still strictly upheld while the reprieve is in place.
