Infant botulism outbreak investigation closed

Health officials have ended their probe into a botulism outbreak linked to powdered infant formula.

The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has officially declared that an outbreak of infant botulism is over. The cases were traced back to Nara Organics powdered infant formula.

According to Food Safety News, the outbreak occurred between April and May of this year. A total of four babies across three states were confirmed to be sickened by the product.

While all four affected infants required hospitalisation, the investigation has now been concluded by federal officials.
